CREATORSShorts and long-form

A teleprompter for YouTube creators on iPhone

Atrio follows your voice as you read, so you do not have to memorize a long script. It records vertical video directly for Shorts, and works as a script display next to a separate camera for horizontal, long-form videos.

Two formatsFollowing

Two YouTube formats, two recording setups

When you use a teleprompter for YouTube, the format you shoot changes how you set up the app. YouTube creators film vertical Shorts and horizontal long-form videos, while Atrio's built-in camera records vertical only. If you already film vertical videos for TikTok, the Shorts setup below uses the same camera placement.

ShortsStandby

Recording Shorts directly in Atrio

For a Short, you record inside Atrio: open your .txt or .md script, turn on the front camera, and read. Voice follow matches your words on the iPhone and advances the line as you speak, or autoplay scrolls at a fixed words-per-minute pace. The take saves to your Photos app in portrait with no watermark, ready to upload to YouTube.

Long-formStandby

Using Atrio as a prompter for horizontal long-form video

For a horizontal long-form video, do not record inside Atrio. Place the iPhone running Atrio right next to your main camera lens, or set it in a physical beam-splitter glass rig and turn on mirror mode (horizontal, vertical, or both) so the text reflects clearly in the glass.

Voice follow works the same way in this setup. The iPhone listens to your voice and advances the script as you speak, holding the line whenever you pause. For camera distance and line width tips, read our how to read a teleprompter guide.

QuestionsStandby

Questions about using Atrio for YouTube

Does Atrio record horizontal, long-form YouTube video?
No. Atrio's built-in camera records vertical (portrait) video only. For a horizontal long-form video, use Atrio as your script display next to the camera you film with, or flip the text with mirror mode if you shoot through beam-splitter glass.
Does Atrio work for YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Shorts are vertical, which matches how Atrio records: front-camera video and audio in portrait, saved straight to your Photos app with no watermark.
How do I read a long YouTube script without losing my place?
Turn on voice follow. The script advances only as you say each word and holds the line the moment you stop to breathe or repeat a take. If you prefer not to use your voice, autoplay scrolls at a words-per-minute speed you set.
How do I keep eye contact with the camera while reading?
Keep the active reading line close to the camera lens, write short sentences, and sit far enough back that your eyes do not dart from side to side. Our how to read a teleprompter guide covers pacing, distance, and font size.
I already shoot vertical content for TikTok. Does the same setup work for YouTube Shorts?
Yes, the vertical recording setup uses the same camera placement either way.
